Feedback-controlled microbubble generator producing one million monodisperse bubbles per second

Monodisperse lipid-coated microbubbles are a promising route to unlock the full potential of ultrasound contrast agents for medical diagnosis and therapy. Here, we present stand-alone lab-on-a-chip instrument that allows be formed with high monodispersity at production rates. Key maintaining long-term stable, controlled, safe operation microfluidic device control over output size distribution is an optical transmission-based measurement technique provides real-time information on rate bubble size. We feed data into feedback loop demonstrate this system can on-chip radius (2.5 ?m–20 ?m) up 106 bubbles/s. The freshly phospholipid-coated bubbles stabilize after their formation approximately two times smaller than initial without loss monodispersity. agent aid development platforms operated by non-specialist end users.
